Reto Gurtner

Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors

Reto Gurtner studied business administration and law. He took over the Crap Sogn Gion mountain ropeways in Laax from his father and merged them with the Flims mountain ropeways in 1996 to form the Weisse Arena Gruppe. Since then he has also been Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors. Reto Gurtner is the visionary and architect of the Weisse Arena Gruppe.

Dr. Otto Bruderer

Member of the Board of Directors

Otto Bruderer is President and Delegate of Wen AG in St. Gallen. He studied in Zurich and St. Gallen, graduating as Dr. oec. HSG and lawyer. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of Weisse Arena Gruppe in 1999.

Christoph Gautschi

Member of the Board of Directors

Christoph Gautschi is a building contractor and studied at the Schweizerische Bauschule Aarau, graduating with a diploma. He was appointed Chairman of the Board of Gautschi AG in 2002. In 2011 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Weisse Arena Gruppe.

Joachim Kohm

Member of the Board of Directors

Joachim Kohm was elected to the Board of Directors of Weisse Arena Gruppe in 2002. He holds a degree in business administration and is a managing partner at Robert Klingel GmbH & Co KG in Pforzheim.

Thorvald Sverdrup

Member of the Board of Directors

Thorvald Sverdrup is a management consultant in the tourism industry and private investor with the company Skialp as in Norway. He studied business administration in Karlstad and was subsequently CEO of Alpsport AB in Sweden from 1984 to 1987 and CEO of the listed company Skistar AB, Sweden from 1987 to 2002. He became a member of the Board of Directors in 2005.

Emanuel Gurtner

Member of the Board of Directors

Emanuel Gurtner completed the three-year training as a meat specialist. At the young age of 18, he attended the central course A of the piste patrolmen. This was followed by the B course and soon after by the training as avalanche blower. Emanuel Gurtner has been part of the team of the piste and rescue service of the Weisse Arena Gruppe in Laax since 2005. Since 2018 he has been deputy operations manager at Gurtner AG Montenaro Fleischwaren in Trin. In September 2019 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Weisse Arena Gruppe.

Markus Wolf

CEO

From 2002 to 2009 Markus Wolf was Head of the Sports Department at the Office for Elementary School and Sports in Graubünden. He later worked at the Federal Office of Sports in Berne as Head of Youth and Adult Sports and as a member of the management. From 2013 to 2019 Markus Wolf worked for Swiss-Ski – first as Sports Director and later as CEO. In 2020 he moved back to Graubünden where he took over operational responsibility for the Weisse Arena Gruppe in May.

Romano De Giorgi

Member of the Management, Finances, ICT and Human Resources

Since May 2020, Romano De Giorgi, who was born in Lugnez, has been a member of the management of the Weisse Arena Gruppe. After successfully completing his business studies in St. Gallen, he gained valuable experience in the credit and corporate client business of Credit Suisse in Zurich. Subsequently, he was responsible for the Swiss market as Business Controller at BMW Group Switzerland. At the Weisse Arena Gruppe he is responsible for the areas of Finances, ICT and Human Resources.

Martin Hug

Member of the Management, Ropeways and Buildings

Martin Hug has been a member of the Weisse Arena Gruppe management since August 2005 and is responsible for Weisse Arena Bergbahnen AG. The business economist previously worked for four years at Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG.

Reto Poltéra

Member of the Management, Sports and Leisure

Reto Poltéra opened the Snowboard Garage Laax in 1993. In 1996 he took over the snowboard school together with Andreas Bärtsch and worked in product design for the snowboard industry. In May 2005, he was appointed to the management of the Weisse Arena Gruppe and has since been responsible for the Weisse Arena Leisure AG and Mountain Adventures AG divisions.

Christoph Schmidt

Member of the Management, Resort and Services

Since October 2007, Christoph Schmidt has been a member of the Weisse Arena Gruppe executive board. Prior to that he managed the five-star Hotel Ritz-Carlton, Berlin. He passed the Lausanne Hotel Management School with distinction and complemented this with an MBA degree in Berlin. In Hilton Hotels in Zurich, Dresden and Bucharest he gained extensive experience in the international hotel business.

Eliane Bernasocchi-Volken

Member of the Management, Marketing and Sales

After graduating from the Sports Gymnasium in Davos, Eliane Bernasocchi-Volken was a member of the Swiss-Ski Alpine B team as a professional athlete. She then worked at the ski brand Fischer Sports GmbH lastly as Head of Marketing and Product Management. From 2015 she was managing the sports brand Salomon in Switzerland at Amer Sports SA. She has been Head of Marketing and Sales at the Weisse Arena Gruppe since 2018 and a member of the management board since 2020.
