Freestyle is more than lauded in LAAX, so the LAAX in November 2016 was awarded the “World’s Best Freestyle Resort”. This statement underlines the ski area with the largest, permanently operated halfpipe in the world. The special feature of the Superpipe is not only its size, however: Both professional sportsmen and all other guests of the destination have access to the halfpipe.

LAAX never stands still. Not only in the valley and on the slopes, but also in between. The Sogn Martin – La Siala 10-seater gondola lift replaces the 3-seater railway of the same name, built in 1982, by more than one kilometer. Cabins constructed by the cabin manufacturer Sigma with an extraordinary design from Pininfarina (Ferrari) offer maximum freedom of movement, Seat upholstery with heated seat, excellent winter protection and panoramic view. The energy for the heated seating is provided by photovoltaics on the façade of the Sogn Martin valley station. The proceeds from the sale of the 216 nostalgia chairs of the old La Siala chairlift were used 100% to support the survivors of the earthquake disaster in Nepal. The infrastructure project “Revolution am Berg” has been completed with the completion of the new railway.

  • The facility is at an Olympic level
  • Open all season (December to April)
  • Is equipped with lighting
  • Free entrance (lift ticket required)
  • Ecological construction supervision for the protection of nature
  • The technical snow production and the ski slopes during the construction of the halfpipe (compared to the previous halfpipe) are reduced by terrain modeling,
  • Reduction of energy consumption and fuel consumption
  • Use of the new piping “Pipe Monster 22ft +” by Zaugg in the exclusive “LAAX Edition”. By jointly developing a new milling machine, a pipe height of 6.90 meters is possible for the first time

Background info

The four snowparks are the sign of the destination and also the absolute hot spot of the freestyle scene. LAAX offers an absolute variety – from the beginner to the professional sportsman there is something for everyone. The superpipe at the Snowpark NoName continues the claim of the destination, the world’s leading freestyle resort. Due to the infrastructure development and the early opening, LAAX offers excellent training opportunities to national and international associations – at the Olympic level. By expanding the halfpipe, LAAX is the training center of the Swiss-Ski association for freestyle. The sporting facility, which also includes the Pro-Kicker-Line, opened in the 2013/14 season, is gaining in national importance.
